Hey, what's up, my name is Chris Pennington and welcome to Learn Astro.

This course attempts to package together all the knowledge I've gained in working with Astro over the last several years. I first started working with Astro building sites in the early betas and I've tracked all the way through until today. Now when I was packaging this course together, I had a few different options. Number one, I could put together something that used a very specific tech that I happen to like. So I could choose specific third party vendors and then show you how to use this database solution with Astro.

I could also use different frameworks like sticking with React a lot or using Vue or Svelte or what I could do is package together all the fundamentals so that you could choose whatever tech stack you want. And that's really what I've tried to do in this course. Because of that, I've really tried to make it a comprehensive course so that when you're done with the course, you can actually build using your preferred tech stack because you understand all the hooks and availabilities in Astro. Now what we're going to do is slowly progress through this course. I'll start with a very slow introduction.

I've actually got a quicker video for those of you who are already familiar with UI frameworks. And then as we move through the course, my plan is to speed up a little bit in the teaching speed. My goal is to make you very comfortable working with Astro. Now a lot of it is going to take your work actually putting it into practice. Now there are a couple of different ways that people like to approach learning courses.

You can either follow directly along with me and code right after me. You could watch it and then try to do it yourself later in your own style. Or you could just get a sense of the final project, try to build it out yourself, and then watch what I do later. Depending on your learning style, you may find one better than the other. Whatever you do, I'd encourage you to make it your own.

Even if it's just a small tweak as you go through a lesson, adding a little section or adding some extra HTML or CSS or one little extra Astro feature, the more you can customize the experience, the more you'll actually be learning instead of just regurgitating or following me as I type.
